Sessions are generally booked for early morning or late afternoon. When the sun is lower, it gives a nice warm glow. Trust me, when it's high noon, you will be squinting and the harsh shadows will make for unattractive portraits.
Think about the look you are going for. Do you want to do a lifestyle session in and around your home? Or maybe you have a favorite park or area you think is picturesque. Maybe at your high school or a park? Do you like to go boating or rafting at the lake or down the river? How about downtown in the cool alleyways and historic buildings. I'm up for whatever you have in mind and I travel well!
Again, think about the look you are going for. For family portraits, try not to be too matchy-matchy but definitely coordinate your colors. No busy patterns! We don't want to distract from your beautiful face. And whatever location you choose, you want to stand out from your background. For instance, if we're shooting against evergreens, don't wear green and camouflage yourself. We want you to pop from your background. You can do a search for "what to wear for my photo session" and you will find some great inspiration boards in the image search. Of course I am always up for a chat to give tips and guidance so do not hesitate to call or text.
